Pulp and Paper

AnoxKaldnes biological treatment processes significantly reduce pollutants such as organic matter and nutrients in wastewater from pulp and paper mills – often without the need for a pilot plant or laboratory trials.
Pulp and paper

Each pulp and paper mill has its own, unique effluent streams and discharge requirements. But the aim is the same: reduce water consumption and reuse and recycle water.

Pulp and Paper wastewaters have the following characteristics:

  • Organic biodegradability as a function of the raw material used in production
  • Nutrient deficiency and p
  • Potential solids escaping primary separation steps
  • High temperatures
  • May contain AOX, chlorate, phenols
  • High concentrations of calcium (recycled paper mills, satinated paper)

We started by developing biological treatment processes specifically for the pulp & paper industry. We have reference installations at pulp & paper mills worldwide (Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, South America).

Processes include:

There are MBBRs operating at thermophilic temperatures.

Our processes are designed for very low excess sludge production (Nutrient limited BAS) and very low nutrient discharges as well as COD, BOD, AOX, chlorate, and phenol removal.

AnoxKaldnes uses existing equipment and tanks for retrofit arrangements as much as possible to reduce capital costs.

We can design a biological treatment plant for most types of mills without the need for a pilot plant or laboratory trials. We suggest conducting laboratory or pilot plant trials for unusual applications.

Tracer™ from AnoxKaldnes is a family of specialized MBBR solutions for the treatment of complex compounds in industrial effluents.
